Named by the office of The Dalai Lama, The Garden of Wisdom School is very special to us as is one of Lotus Flower Trust's very first projects. Built for 50 children from Shushakul Village in remote Ladakh, back in 2009, and run by monks from Shushakul Monastery, the children from poor farming villages who school here would otherwise not have received an education.
Originally funded by People Positive, thanks to recent funds from a generous private sponsor, foundations for a new Hostel at the school have now been laid. The Hostel, plus additional toilet and washing facilities, which will be completed by the end of the year, will allow more children, including girls, to live and study at the school.
The Hostel will of course be built using the energy efficient, ancient #RammedEarthTechnique. We can't wait to share more photos as the project progresses!
