The Benefits of Supporting a Small Charity

To celebrate #SmallCharitiesWeek, we thought we would tell you about just some of the benefits of supporting small…

Bigger isn’t always better!

Small charities are specialists, working in a particular field, in our case addressing poverty, education, special needs and conservation.

This means we’re experts in what we do and because we’re a small team we can respond quickly without getting bogged down with all the bureaucracy and politics of larger organisations.

Small charities like Lotus Flower Trust work with local indigenous people, so we understand the specific challenges faced. With our experienced team on the ground in Ladakh and other areas of India, we’re always in the best position to build relationships in the community, and help those in poverty who are hardest to reach.

Although we’re small, we make a big impact!

The challenges we face...

As we're small, we don’t have a big marketing budget or team to reach lots of people. There are only 2 of us in the office!

This means we have limited access to funds and we rely on larger pots of money from donors or grants. But the application process for grants is time intensive, there are long waits and success rates are always uncertain.

At least 90 percent of money that does come in goes directly to our projects, making funds to run the business very hard to come by.

Like many other charities, since Covid, we have lost major funding, making a big hole in our budget and we are struggling to commit to many new and worthwhile projects which keep coming in. But we're determined to keep fighting for those in need!
