Changing Lives & Challenges

Like everyone, we are very concerned for our European friends in Ukraine, who of course take priority in all of our minds.

It's such a difficult time for so many reasons but here at Lotus Flower Trust HQ we continue to work as hard as ever to focus on our goal to help change lives forever. Despite the knock on effects of Covid, 189 fundraising applications have recently been sent out and 29 more are to be completed online. We have 12 projects we are currently raising funds for and many more which land in the email inbox each week. By clicking on the following link, you will be able to read about the many people we continue to help in challenging areas of the Himalayas; the majority of whom live below the poverty line, most are in need of educational support, and many of whom, due to climate change, are without water.

Lotus Flower Trust's CEO & Founder John Hunt had hoped to visit India this Easter with 2 colleagues, but has decided to postpone the trip until the world is a little more settled. He is nonetheless desperate, after 2 years of being unable to travel, to see our team on the ground and to visit some of the 73 projects we will have completed by the end of the year.

Despite the lack of travel, now that so many of our projects are using social media, it is wonderful to see weekly videos which keep us all connected, including celebrations of this week's #InternationalWomensDay2022. To mark this event, we have included photos of girls and women in this newsletter, from many of our projects which prioritise education for girls and support destitute women to help redress the imbalance which has existed for so long. These include the Women's Skills Centre in Rajasthan, Basgo Nunnery, Sakya Nuns Association, Okhalkhanda Girls Home, Ambedkar Ardarsh Women's Refuge, Montessori Junior High School and more.
