New Year News from Lotus Flower Trust

Children from the Montessori School in Pant Nagar, Uttrakhand.

Happy New Year to You!

We have started 2022 with some great news. Delhi Duty Free, our main funder in India, has funded the construction of extra classrooms, new toilets and washrooms for Shri Ram Vidyamandir Inter College in Dotiyalgaon, Almora - a school in desperate need in the beautiful foothills of the Himalayas. They have also funded 10 computers for Kavita’s Home at Kalu Sidi in Ramnagar where local village women, many of them destitute, go to learn new skills. We are of course very grateful to the staff of Delhi Duty Free who have helped us so often to change lives.

Still So Much Fundraising to do!

At this time in the new year, our minds turn inevitably to fundraising. Here at LFT HQ we are about to send out applications for financial support to hundreds of potential funders. We have 14 exciting new projects in urgent need of funds and more are flooding in each day. They include Artificial Glaciers for villages in the high Himalayas, school extensions and rebuilds, wheelchairs for differently abled cricketers and equipment to set up computer laboratories in very remote schools which currently have no access at all to computer learning.

If you are able to donate to any of our projects, please click here: www.lotusflowertrust.org/donate. Thank you!

Plans to Visit our Projects in 2022...

This year we hope, Covid willing, to be able to visit North India in the spring and Ladakh in the summer. So many people want to see us and show off projects we have funded, which have all been successful. Most importantly, we want to meet the people with whom we work so closely. It has been very difficult managing the charity’s work over such a long distance, 7,000 miles, but our team on the ground and the local people have been very diligent and we are so grateful to all of them for helping us make such a positive change to so many people.

New Fundraising Challenges Planned

As you may have seen, our #EverestChallenge2021 was hugely successful, with more than £35,000 raised through crowdfunding. So what's next… well how about the Tuk-Tuk Challenge? This involves driving a tuk-tuk from John O’Groats to Land’s End in the early summer and then we have something more strenuous planned for the Autumn. Please email johnhuntnfo@lotusflowertrust.org if you would like to get involved! Hopefully both challenges will bring in lots of money so that Lotus Flower Trust can continue to help change lives forever.

And finally, here is a happy Christmas and New Year message from the children at our JSR Special Needs School in Ramnagar. Despite being a little out of focus, we thought it would put a smile on all your faces. It certainly reminds us of the enormous benefits of raising money for those in need. Let us know what you think...

Thank you for all your ongoing support.
